Give me the bottom line on transmissions!
Hey
I almost bought my first Mini last week, but at the last minute found too many unhappy owners in forums like this because of their CVT transmissions, and/or poor performing clutch.
I noticed many owners who were replacing the tranny around 50k miles. Yikes! I'm aware that the transmission on the 09 convertibles, (the model I'd like to buy), has been re-done, but I'm worried that this is a good car.
What's the deal??
Thanks

The early CVT's were problematic ... The newer ones are FAR FAR superior
The 6 speeds are more reliable , and the clutches are pretty reliable ,like anything else it depends on the driver , poor habits ,bad shifting ect
