New to mini so please bear with me. I was told by my dealer that I need a new thermostat (something about electronic controlled, never heard of such a thing) that is setting off my engine light. and also that my water pump is leaking. I have a 2008 mini (standard model, not an S or convertible) when he quoted me 580 for the tstat and 844 for the WP I nearly fainted. I have the tools and knowledge, but having trouble finding the parts. Lots of listing only saying for "convertible. Mini gave me part #'s 11537534521 (tstat) and 11517550484 (WP) is this right? where can I buy them aftermarket? Also any tips on what I will be in for on the replacement?

Part numbers are correct, and you can only get the Thermostat from the Dealer. Water pump try and good parts store, my guess is you will have a hard time finding it.
Those prices are not to bad but suggest trying a good independant shop. Check yelp for reviews. Note always use BMW/Mini coolant from the Dealer.
