Leaking power steering fluid
 
Just purchased 2005 mini cooper s auto,,74,000 miles very clean almost mint noticed fluid front middle of engine on ground looks like power steering fluid,No whining of pump steers normal,little low on fluid now,,any idea ,is it pump,,or just hose leaking, have heard that these cars have pump problems.Will take it to my mechanic just wondering what it could be thanks,,Mario

not near enough info to give you an exact ... could be either listed or a bad rack and pinion assembly

If you have a floor jack, you can check underneath the car for some signs of where it's coming from - you can also clean up the area a bit then check later for any new signs of fluid/oil.

Looks like its coming from the pump area ,car rides great no whining of pump..hope its just a hose,seal etc,,

Wondering where power steeering leak is coming from,looks like its coming from under pump,,steering works fine very little whine witch i understand is normal for these cars,,do understand that hoses are a common problem ,,any idea ?????????
