Thumbs down license plate position

I just bought a 2006 Hardtop. The rear license plate indentation space has two rubber grommets drilled for screws. They are spaced 9 1/4 inches apart and located vertically in about the middle of the license plate space. They do not match the hole locations on a standard Fl plate. Is there a bracket design to use these grommets that correctly positions the license plate in the space ?? Or do I just need to drill new holes at the proper width at the top of the license indentation space so the the license plate is centered horizontally and vertically in the space??

Check on eBay for universal license plate bracket frames.
