Locking the door

07 MINI Cooper S can be locked if the key fob is outside the cab while engine is still running. Does anyone know how to correct this mistake?

It's not really a mistake it allows you to leave the car running (to warm up or cool off)and lock it to prevent theft , then unlock it and drive away

MINI sells more cars in Sunny California than anywhere else, and we Californians do not have to warm up the car in the morning. It would be more desirable if MINI programmed in an option to enable door locking as the owner's choice. If a cooling off of a longer period is needed, I doubt it though, it should have been the control option also, with automatic engine turn off at the end. Anyway, these things can be taken care of by adding a few lines in the program.

Door locking is programmable by the dealer my MA asked exactly how I wanted mine to work (he had a check list)

Thanks. I will take your input to my dealer to disable locking from outside while the engine is running. They previously told me it is out of their control, and to please write to MINI USA. MINI USA promptly replied that they had no idea. I even asked if they can supply me with the address, in any form, of Munchen or of Oxford design people hoping that they add lines in the program in their next generation MINI. They said they did not know, but they can help me with the name of my MINI dealer. My MINI dealer!
