Mini Bella engine died....

I have a 2006 Mini S the last couple of days I give it gas and it didn't seem to have full power for a few minutes then it would take off. Driving home yesterday, I gave it gas to pass and it just died. I went off on to the side of the road and it wouldn't start. Then EML light and service engine soon lights all came on. It turns over and coughs a bit and tries to start but won't I have no clue. I just don't know what to do now, I understand it doesn't have a fuel filter? Is that true? How do I find out what it is without have to carry it to a shop. The mini shop is far away. Thanks for any help you can give me, to try anything I can do from home.

Sorry to hear about your troubles, the fuel filter is located underneath the rear seats. The EML and CEL sounds like a throttle body control issue. Pull (or have someone pull) the codes for you.
