Mini Cooper 2003 and CVT Problems???

Hi all,

My wife and I are considering buying a friends 2003 mini cooper with a CVT engine. It has 62,000 miles and supposedly is in good condition. I've heard that some / many mini coopers with CVT engines have had problems and need replacing from 50,000 - 70,000 miles on???

I have a 2003 Audi A4 with a CVT engine and it did need a new CVT transmission at about 35,000 miles... Audi paid for it since it was under warranty, but would have cost almost $10,000.

Please let me know your thoughts about buying a this car...

Since I have not studied this a lot yet, I would love to know more about the CVT issue as well as what service schedule should this car have had etc... Since it's over 60,000 (it has about 62,000) I am assuming it should have had a 60,000 check???

Thanks!!!

Marc

ok first there is not such thing as a CVT engine, the engine is no different.second if there are any issue's with the CVT trans it will need to be replaced unless you are able to readapt it. there are quite a few problems with the trans. we replace at least 5 a month.
