We have a 2004 Mini "Monte Carlo" edition that we purchased used. It did not come with
an Owner Manual and we have not been able to obtain one for that specific model. We have already put a few thousand pleasureable miles on it but have no dealer or service agency here. We have had the crankcase oil changed a couple of times, but now our
mileage odo reads a negative when igniition is first clicked on, before returning to the
current mileage? What does this mean? Where can we purchase an appropriate manual?

Thats the oil change interval the negitive means that when the oil change has not been reset

To change that interval :turn the key to the second position and hold the odo reset button, tst will appear. keep holding until rst appears. press the reset again and it will reset the your service indicator
