Default My 05 mini s is sick..

Hey guys,

Recently Ive been having a really obnauxious problem with my mini.

Randomly when Im driving, my guages start to go crazy. (all work stop working at the same time)

My tach goes from reading the engine speed to zero, my check engine light goes on, My A/C compressor turns off, my stock temp guage Sky rockets to the red mark, my Tire pressure warning turns on, my Abs light turns on. Im out of ideas on how to fix it. The car runs fine when this happens also. Ive tried resetting the ecu, Ive replaced the ignition switch, ive checked all the fuses. I also get a P1612 check engine code.

Any recommendations? car has 80k miles on it.

So ive tracked down the problem and isolated it to the speedometer cluster. Everytime the issue arises, i tap the cluster and everything works for a little bit.

:SOLVED:

so after pulling the cover off the speedometer cluster, I took a soldering torch and did a strategy called "Reflowing the solder" which basically heats off the joints and melts the solder. this reconnectes all the cracked solder and makes it like its been freshly soldered. This did the trick!

Hey Benny! I've got the same error code. Did reflowing the solder get rid of this code for you?
