New to Mini - what is this sensor?
Howdy y'all! I'm considering buying my first Mini, so yay =). Well, it's intended as first car for my daughter, but I just did a first test drive, and can see what the magic is. The car I looked at is a manual 2012 Mini Cooper base model. Second owner, 114k miles, overall in reasonable shape. One question I cannot find an answer via Google though is, what is the sensor in the attached picture? It does not have a connection to it, I also did not see any loose cable that looked like it would/should be connecting to it. I checked the ECU via OBDII and Torque Pro on my Android, it came back clean. No warning lights in the cockpit, the car drove fine for a 4-5 mile test drive. Anybody know what that sensor is, and what the consequences are of driving with it disconnected?
Thanks a bunch! - SL https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/minicoo...e6884bfda4.jpg |
Thats the coolant sensor for select models/years, if its unplugged and a new thermostat is put in then the new piggyback harness is installed and you dont have anything going to it.
