Default No power steering '08

How bad is this. Is there some possibility that it is an easy fix? Or is it bound to be expensive. Salvage car so no warranty.
Thanks

What type of MINI do you have? R50-R53 or R55-R57?

Well is it a convertible? If its an 08 convertible than you have a R52, if not then its a R55 or R56. But it sounds like you most likely have eps and not ehps. Bad news about that is that you cant just replace the pump because its built into the rack & pinion, you have to replace the whole rack assembly. Like the other guy said check fuses and connection. I would make sure that i have power at the pump itself before anything, because that repair isn't cheap at all if it turns out to be the pump.

No it is just a little coupe. Jeez, the whole rack and pinion? Any one throw an estimate for N. Calif at me so I don't get ripped off? What can I expect? Can you throw in an old salvage yard part?
This car got flooded. Is there any chance this could be a a computer issue that is no longer driving the steering the way it should. I'll check fuses etc first.
TIA for your help.

Since the car got flooded look for corrosion on the connectors as well
