I purchased a used '03 mini a few weeks ago but there's a whining noise comming from under the hood. I dont hear it when I'm stopped or rev the engine. The previous owner said he drove over 1000 kms on it and I've put over 800 kms and the noise hasn't changed at all. My uncle is a mechanic and he had no idea what it is. Any suggestions?

 

have you checked for loud noisey cooling fan or electric power steering pump ???

 

I had something similar on my '03 and the cooling fan on the power steering had failed.
