oil change

Hello all,

I have an03 mini cooper non S. Its time for an oil change, and ive heard that your only supposed to use mini specific oil? I read in the owners manual that regular synthetic oil is ok to use between changes. My question is, What is mini specific oil? Can i use mobil 1 synthetic for the oil change? Also how much does the mini specific oil run? I assume you can purchase it at a dealer.

Don't know (and don't care) what dealer's charge for their oil, but think my dealer uses Castrol Syntec. We use Mobil 1 synthetic. Some of the better and more expensive full synthetics are probably fine also: Redline, Amsoil, Royal Purple.
