my 2005 mini with CVT trans has a check engine light code of p1787(bipolar stepper motor short circuit) and p1698(ECU failure), when driving at slow speed, the car feels like it's always downshifting by itself, and at one point i had a hard time accelerating, does that mean i need a CVT trans to be replaced?? pls let me kno as i am very concerned

Sounds electrical in nature ... more then a tranny replacement
