QUESTION ABOUT MILEAGE COUNTER IN SPEEDO
Hi Guys
I have a 2003 Cooper S which has 38k miles on it. Some prick (are you allowed to say that) vandalised the car, didnt steal it just trashed it and one of the things they did was wreck the speedo. I have replaced most of the damaged items by buying replacemetns off eBay however one which I am nervous to replace is the actual speedo. My car as just over 38k miles on it and if i replace the speedo with a second hand one (there are plenty around for $100 or so) would a higher milage one reset to the 38k miles or would it continue to show the last recorded milage on the actual gauge? if the latter is the case I am better off buying a new one - but then my car fax will show that the mileage has been tampered with what advice do you guys have for me ..... please |
RE: QUESTION ABOUT MILEAGE COUNTER IN SPEEDO
Hmm... I am not sure. My wife's Buick had a problem with the oddometer display. We replaced it, and the milage stayed the same. The miles are actually stored in the cars computer as opposed to the oddometer itself, which is nothing more than a display. I would guess the Mini is the same way.
