replace gas flap assy.
 

I finally found the part that should fix my issue with gas flap not latching. The issue is not with the flap itself but with the latch that the plastic post on the flap engages into. So I have to get to the back of the whole pocket that the flap encloses over the fuel fill.
My problem is I cannot find how to remove the original assy.
One source said it removes from the inside but after puzzling my way thru removing the inside panels it is still inaccessible. It seems to me like it should be removable from the outside but can't figure out how.
I have been trying to buy a service manual for this car but I cannot find one.
