Revving up engine problem
 

I was driving my mini on the freeway about 3000 RPMs trying to bypass a car. I downshifted and when the engine reached about 4000 RPMs the engine died. I tried to re-start the engine while stll moving by just turning the key but did not work. Had to pull over and turned off the engine completly and re-started right away. That makes me think that could be a computer problem, but I don't know why. Also when this happened one of the yellow lights on the dashboard turned on. (Don't have the manual and don't remember what this indicator means)

I'm betting the light is the CEL (check engine light) It probably threw a code and need to get it to an autozone/advanced and have the code read ,that might give us the cause reason ...
