Spedometer

New Mini owner here, got a question regarding the spedo, when it says 45 or 50, it feels alot slower, i see other cars tailgatting me and other even passing me at a quicker rate of speed, are the spedometers on these cars accurate?

The spedo is off. I would guess at 65 you are doing 60 or less. Time yourself between some mile markers at 60 mph. It should take 1 minute. if it takes a different amount of time, do the math and figure your spedo error. European cars are notorious for optomistic speedometers... Mini's are as bad as any of 'em in that respect.

RE: Spedometer

according to a friends gps that I borrowed, mine is 1mph off. I attribute this to the tires being very worn and smaller than a new stock tire. I am going by the digital display in the tach, I never use the dinner plate in the center of my dash.
