starter motor signal
 

Hi everyone i have a cooper S clubman N14 engine and cannot get the starter to crank, i have 12 volts at the thick power cable to starter and have connected tester to ignition (trigger wire) as i can get the plug off the starter but when pressing start button it does not show any volts. my question to everyone is if diagnostics are ok and power is going to the starter and ignition comes on plus fuel tank pump energises etc what is stopping the signal going to the starter?
I cant help but feel it is a fuse type problem as the car wants to go.
