Throttle hesitation
 

My MINI is an 09 Clubman S with a Steptronic tranny.

When I accelerate from a rolling stop there is a hesitation and the car jerks. It is almost as if the cable (if there is a cable) has some slack.

Has anyone any thoughts on this issue?

Yours should be fly by wire .... No throttle cable sounds like the Throttle positioning sensor has a dead spot or is misadjusted

I have the same vehicle with the same problem. My 2009 clubman as 10K miles and it's been back to the dealer 4 times now. They replaced an evap component, and a High pressure fuel pump on the previous visits, but they won't acknowledge the throttle delay and said it operates as designed. Maybe if enough people will complain, they will fix it...

I just wish I knew more about who to contact about this problem....because it really is a saftey issue. My dealer tells me that it is the ethonal in the fuel. For some reason no one is wanting to admit there is a problem. I think using the sport mode should be an option not a necessity

FWIW, I am now convinced that this is not a throttle problem, but rather a transmission problem. I installed an add on product called "Sprint Booster" that makes the gas pedal response more aggressive and it does not solve the problem. I think when you are slowing down, such as to a rolling stop or to take a corner, the transmission shifts to neutral instead of staying engaged. When you push the pedal, there is a delay and a lurch as the power train re-engages. In sport mode or manumatic mode, there is never a dis-engagement and thus no lag and no lurch. Anyway, that's my theory.

In Sport Mode, I don't get the hesitation from a dead stop, but instead get such a jolt that it is uncomfortable. Otherwise, the hesitation is so bad that I don't feel safe pulling out into traffic or changing lanes when going slow in traffic. If this is "genetic" in the automatic model, I will definitely trade soon. Surely BMW/MC is aware of the problem... Otherwise a very good ride and lots of pep.

Yours should be fly by wire .... No accelerator wire appears to be like the Throttle placement indicator has a deceased identify or is mis-adjusted.
