Torn rear shock cover (I think)
 

All,

I'm helping out a friend with her 2006 Mini cooper and I noticed what appears to be shock cover that's completely torn on the left rear tire.

I'm curious what this component is called so I can see if it's something that I can replace, or if she'll have to bring it into her dealership.

rear lower control arm
 

Well is a rear lower control arm, not hard to replace if you have the right tools. Hehe I'm a tech so that no problem for me. Oh and that's not bad damage, minor to what I've seen. Hope this info helps
