What engine oil to use?

Anyone have a good recommendation for engine oil other than the BMW/Mini oil?

Sorry, forgot to mention....

I called Castrol Oil customer service number and got a call back yesterday. They said that they make a special oil for BMW and it is not packaged for sale in Canada. They nad no alternative but to purchase the oil from the dealer.

Mini recomends Castrol in the states ...
I've run 5/40 pure synthetics
brands Mobil 1 , castrol, Amsoil , redline and Royal purple never had any troubles
