Default Winter Tire size

Just purchased a 2005 mini S for my wife and I am looking to put winter tires on it. I purchased a extra set of 17 inch mini rims and I am looking for winter tires I was wondering if 205 50 17 would rub? I know that they are about 1/2 to 1 inch taller but are the same width, and there is a a much greater slection in 205 50 17 any help would be greatly appreciated.
