Yeah, this site is like that. Don't take it personal. I think it just might be carbon build up on your valves. These cars are notorious for that. How many miles do you have on your Mini?

+1 on possible carbon build up if its a Gen 2 Turbo MINI. What year and model ?

Maybe people have the same issue and are looking for an answer?

My wife has a 2011 Mini with manual transmission. She is reporting the same thing, a yellow warning light that she looked up in the manual that says "full engine power no longer available. Drive slow & get checked out" It also says that if the light turns red to not drive it.
I drove it the other day and besides needing an oil change, it has 15k and this will be the 3rd change, it was stumbling a bit when starting out.
She drives it to work each day @ 14 miles RT.
We just got back from a 2200 mile trip and it ran fine so carbon build up shouldn't be an issue since I was regularly hitting 90 for extended periods.
Anyone have an idea what might be happening?
Thanks for your time.

UPDATE:
I just went and got the car and took it in for a code reading. Cylinder #2 is misfiring. I am not familiar with these engines but sounds like a plug wire or plug but the guy said it might be direct spark where each cylinder has its own coil... ANd that those babies run @ $400 a piece.

I also erred in the mileage, it has 34,000 and it has had 4 changes. How's that for not paying attention?

OK well you have a Gen 2 MINI : Its might be carbon build up from short trips and the engine not getting warm. The coils are here , if the coil is bad , to test which one is not firing swap them to another cylinder then clear and read the code with a scan tool.

These are individual coil pack per plug systems. The wire that go to them don't go bad. Its the plugs or the coils.

2011 MINI , is this a Cooper or Cooper S ... JCW ?
