I finally decided to pull the old air filter from my 2002 Cooper S this evening just to realize that the air filter I bought online is the wrong size

The one that was sold to me by a very reputable MINI parts dealer in the USA is the right width, but is too short (????)

The tag on the bag clearly states that it's OEM for a 2002 MINI Cooper S.

Are there differences in air filter sizes for cars sold in Canada and the US?
