Key inserted, then nothing.

Hi,

This is my first post at this forum, so I'm pretty sure the question has been read and answered and read and answered many times before.

My wife bought a used 2011 Mini Countryman, and two or three times I've had an issue with the car not starting once the key's inserted. Twice, my wife drove my car to where I was stranded, inserted the key and had it start - no problem. I'm 98.7% sure that she didn't do anything different than me, and that something re-set in the time it took her to reach me. So, there's some kind of problem with the key, right?. Again, the car is now 9ish years old, as is the key, presumably. While waiting for her to show up today, I watched a Youtube that suggested sometimes the keys have to be replaced. Maybe?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Hello,

This unit can sometimes fail and stick; check the battery on the key first.

Thank you for the reply, ESCTuning. I'm relieved to learn (but embarrassed to admit) that my "issue" turned out to me not stepping on the brake when I tried starting the car.

Hadn't heard of that one before!
