Hi everyone, just wondering if you could help.

I have a Mini Cooper 51 plate and the brake lights have stopped working yet the tailgate light still works.

I've checked:

The fuses,
Brake light switch,
Bulbs,
Brake res electrics.

And still they don't work. Could this be an earthing fault or ECU fault?

Anyone had this problem?

It seems its one thing after another with this car, i've only just had the wiper motor replaced costing me a packet!

did you check the bulb socket? It might have a bad ground on it. I think the 3rd brake light works off the same fuse. Hold the bulb up to the light and flick it with your finger to see if the filament shakes. Sometimes it's hard to tell just by looking at it.

 

Check for VOLTAGE at the tailight socket , no voltage work backward check that one side is grounded properly
