2005 Clutch Pressure Plate Break!
 

Hello all,

Just had my clutch in my 2005 mini cooper s (79k miles) go out. Turns out the entire pressure plate broke in 3 sections! I have never heard of this happening before, to any car! It's crazy! I wanted to share to see if anyone has ever heard of this before? Take a look.

I had the same thing happen to me on my 2005 S (JCW)...I have put a good deal of aftermarket parts on over the years and I suspect (but don't know) that it had a negative effect on the OEM parts (particularly the clutch and flywheel) - meaning extra stress.

The solution is not cheap - cost me $3K (mostly labor) to get it fixed. All I can say is that get it done by a reputable place since novice mechanics not familiar with Mini Cooper builds will probably frack it up (which also happened...)
