Hi everyone,

I have a 2008 mini Cooper that needs the electric rack and pinion replaced. Local mechanics can't do it because they don't have the software to program it. Dealer and mini specialists are expensive and I would need to tow the car a good distance to get to them. Been looking at different options. Saves me money if I buy a refurbished part online but have read sometimes refurbished electric R&P's can't be programmed completely. Does anyone know if that's true? Also have been trying to find a mobile person to come by my local mechanic to program it. So far no luck, not even sure that's a thing. Car has a brand new engine and other than the R&P is in great shape. Any advice would be great.
