Advice on Buying a New Mini

Hi! I am so happy to have found this forum. I am extremely interested in buying a mini and wanted to pick all of your brains before going into the dealership. For those of you who bought your mini new were you able to negotiate off of the invoice price? When I looked at edmunds.com it seemed the minis pretty much sell at the MSRP, but I wanted to ask you guys to get an idea of constructive haggling beforehand. Also, how close does the dealership price track to the MSRP you get when you build your mini online? I want to know if after I build it online if I go into the dealer will I get some wildly different price quote.

Also, anyone bought their Mini from Houston or Dallas? Would you recommend or warn regarding a specific dealer in those areas?

Do you have any other tips before I head to the dealer?

Thanks!! Joy.

RE: Advice on Buying a New Mini

Hi Joy,
The sad fact is that your are pretty much stuck with MSRP, unless you happen to go to one the dealers who charges MSRP PLUS $1000, 2000, etc. Haggling wise, shoot for thrown-in accessories, like floor mats, I-pod adapter and such.
Sorry I can't help you with TX dealers. If you happen to be thinking of travelling to Albuquerque for your purchase....DON'T!!!! Worst dealer I have ever had the misfortune to deal with.

Good luck, and happy hunting!

RE: Advice on Buying a New Mini

If anyone is interested, I've recently started a new resource so that people can see actual car prices - not estimates from KBB or Edmunds. Here is the site:

http://www.pricehub.com/price/MINI/Cooper

I've got about 33 Mini Cooper prices in there so far - hopefully this will help people make decisions. Feedback - good or bad would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.
