BMW guy deciding on a mini please some sugestions

Never had a mini before. I am looking into getting one. I am looking at the 2011-and up.. What issues should I look into. How reliable are these little things. How much power can they hold on stock internals. What are the common mini problems. Any info would be helpful. Thank you in advance

Hello there. Since you're looking into the 2011 and up years. You shouldn't have many problems at all. If you get an S model that's a manual. They can hold their own.

N18 ( Cooper S ) / N16 ( Cooper) engines are for 2011+ unless you have a Factory JCW car ( which used them till 2012 ). Then went to the N18.

The 2011+ MINI also have the newer styling as that was the LCI year, you should know what LCI from the BMW side.

Good luck.

Still got my N55 335 and just got my wife a cooper hard top and it's a blast! This little thing is packed! Though not as powerful, still got the fun factor as my E92. Very nimble and quick. I suggest get the S and manual tranny to enjoy the full potential of the car.

Mini

If you are planning to switch from your new/pre-owned BMW to Mini then I think you are making it right, because Mini is the future of BMW this year ! The tweaks to the interior and the ride quality are hard to argue with, as are the larger hatch area and the various tech toys. Plus, it's still very fun to drive!
All the best :D
