Finally Selling my 2007 Mini Cooper S to get a BMW 328i
 

Finally, after 5 fun years of driving my 2007 Mini Cooper S, I'm selling it to get a BMW 328i as I need 4 doors. I'm in Rochester NY and we get a lot of snow. Do I need to be worried about driving a RWD drive in the snow? I'm planning on putting on snow tires for sure.

I own a135i... I use designated snow tires mounted on different wheels ... Not bad in snow ... Just don't do anything stupid like trying to drive up steep hills in sniw, etc.
My question is : how's the mini in snow??? I'm considering the mini roadster. It Will be my only car so snow will be an issue ... I've owned BMWs since 2003; little nervous about pulling the trigger on the mini roadster ... I love roadsters... Is the mini a quality car???

I drove my Cooper S in 5 winters on snow tires/designated wheels without a problem. And we get a lot of snow here. Even made some Upstate NY to NYC trips in th snow without a problem. Didn't try any major steep roads though. Of course if it snowed 2 feet overnight, most cars aren't getting out of that snow bank. I think Coopers are reliable as only cars. I had a Cadillac Deville before the Cooper (yeah I know) and I enjoyed the copper a lot.

I can't imagine the Roadster performing too differently.

I own a '10 128i, and you should be fine with the RWD in the snow. Do you have the BMW warrantee and all services covered? I would consider putting some Blizzak or similar tires on the Rears for snow grip. This might involve getting an additional set of BMW rims for those tires, if you don't want to void the tire coverage if you have it.

The BMWs traction control and ABS should be pretty helpful, but with all vehicles there are limitations.
