Default Getting a Mini Serviced

I'm thinking of getting a used MINI, but reliability and cost of maintenance are concerns. So...

- Do owners find them reliable?
- Are the expensive, like BMWs, to maintain (breaks etc)?
- Should you stick with MINI dealerships for servicing/fixing, or is it safe to go elsewhere?

Cheers,

Paul

I have owned a mini cooper for a year now and I have had no problems atall, its great fun, no issues. I have however just put it into BMW for a full service and its not cheap! I needed a full service and 1 new run flat tyre and its come to over £550. They tried to get me to get a few other things I apparently hadn't noticed fixed as well and the price tag on those wasnt cheap either. A full BMW service history is always going to look good but my personaly opinion is any garage with a good reputation is the way forward. (thinking of getting rid of the run flats too £140 a tyre at BMW s*d that)

I've found mine to be no troubles either ... The dealer did covered oil changes , I think the 15K interval is too many miles so I pay for intermediate changes every 5K
Brakes ect are easy to do ... I've not had any other issues except tires in 4 years

Default tyres change

I have just changed winter tyres into summer ones ( I, know, I know...its quite late) and, afther the operation....the yellow indicator on the meter started to flash...probably pressure indicator (looks like, becouse I have no manual book). The pressure should be correct, so has anyone any idea what is going on, and how to reset the thing? I would be grateful for any oppinion.

I found it!...the button near handbrake. The only excuse for me ( not to be called idiot) is, that my wife uses the Mini (2003) :-)

We just purchased a 2007 Mini Cooper S hardtop that only had 13K miles. Incredible shape. We were shocked (the original window sticker was in the glove box) that the KBB and Edmonds value today was higher (by $1,700) than the original MSRP! I've heard that they hold their value, but this is rediculous.

Phenominal car, fast as lightning, unbelievable handling, tremendous all around. Should have gotten one sooner.
