I have a 2002 Cooper S the headlights have built in washers,do the newer led type headlights fit straight in? Tia

 

By newer, are you asking about the face lift lights on the 2005-2005 R53?

 

not to sure all I know is that they are led mine at the moment are standard xenon lights with the built in headlight water wash

 

If you're wanting a stronger ray of light that goes further and is brighter I'd suggest to change out your bulbs. You might be able to get away with the facelift R53 headlights (2005-2006), as they have the built it washer units too:
