Looked at at 2005 Mini Cooper S with 50,000 miles today, leather seats, ipod, alloy wheels, for $15,500. Would the extra money for a new 07 or 08 Cooper S be worth the difference in price? Is the new engine Turbocharged better than the 05 Supercharged?

Tough call. The twin screw turbo is new (Peugeot). The supercharger has worked very well and does not wear (out) like the twin screws (but you are under warranty to 36K). I have 2006 S. Holding up very well after 60K miles. My guess is try the '05 if you are not really happy with it. Trade it in/up. No?
