Help with questions
Hey all here is my quandary
I have found a 2006 Cooper S mileage is at 97,000 it is super clean has everything I want Super charger, Harmon/Kardon stereo, 6-speed manual sunroof/glass roof. 2 owner car first it was a lease then bought by someone The next one is a 2008 Mini S with 91,000 but it has a Turbo. I have read up on the timing chain tensioner and that the Turbos heat up too much. Plus I just found out the dealer had to replace the catalytic converter on it. (Heating problems???) It too has everything as the same features as the 06. Now I've done some other checks and both have their quirks. But they all seem to be around the 75-90,000 mile mark. oil consumption, head gaskets and cracked heads, Radiator leaks, cats, and a few other things geared towards 06's and 08's. Here is the bottom line both are in the $8500 ball park. This will be my everyday car so I need something reliable for the next 3-4 years. It will be well maintained. 06-Supercharged which I really want But the 08 Turboed is newer a little larger and more safety features I'm told Which should I lean towards?? please give a few pros and cons. Thanks Hayden |
I have a 04 R53 and I totally love it. My sister just got a 15 F56 and it's just equally cool. Have you test drove both models? You should if you havn't yet.

Thanks Teamslam1. I really appreciate it. I really want a 06 S because of the supercharger.
What other issues do I need to be concerned about. This will be my everyday car so I need it to last while. I will be doing some mods though. |
There are a few concerns with the Gen 1 R53 that I've heard of but I think it's a general concern with all Gen 1's. One is to check where your battery is located. If it's wet in there then there's a concern about the rain gutters. The other is electrical. Then there's the little odds and ends like the hood squirters and the headlight washers. Just read up here on the forum and you'll find more answers. Good luck!
