Default Inherited R53 Mini Cooper S

Howdy folks

My father, a former amateur race car driver, recently passed away and I inherited his 2002 R53 S. I had thought I would just sell it but it has only 40K miles on it, is in fabulous shape and drives like, well, you know.

Anyway, I had a friend tell me his 2002 R53 S was one of the first 200 made and shipped to the U.S. (and was therefore worth more money than your standard Mini Cooper). He even had some kind of certificate detailing its production number. I do not have such a thing and for the life of me cannot figure out how to find out its production number. Any thoughts?

Also, any other information anyone can tell me about this car would be appreciated (trivia, etc.). Just starting to get into it.

Thanks!
Hayden

Hi
Your friend is right, a 2002 R53 is very early in production. Other than that, im not to familiar with production numbers. With only 40K miles, it should be pretty low Maintenace for a while.
Do be sure to change the super charger oil, probably around 60K or earlier. With proper Maintenace, the car should last a very long time. My R53 has 180K on it.

Maybe message MINIUSA on FB or something with VIN. They might be able to provide that, i know the first 1000 in the USA got a T shirt with their number.
