Interior part question for 2003 mini s

Hello, I am new to this forum and was hoping someone may be able to answer this question? I just bought a 2003 Mini Cooper S with hard top and there is a part missing on the headliner. I have no idea what it's for, what it's called, or what it looks like. It is located in the headliner directly in front of the clock. Thanks in advance for your help!

Welcome to MINI Cooper Forums! Do you have a picture by chance? I think you might be talking about the hands free microphone. I could be wrong, but let me know. Is it this, image below? Is it black or grey?

Grey part is here: Cover Microphone 51447036783 - Genuine BMW - 51-44-7-036-783 | Pelican Parts
Black part is here: Cover Microphone 51447136033 - Genuine BMW - 51-44-7-136-033 | Pelican Parts

That's it! Thank you for the info. I'm guessing there should be some wiring in there somewhere. I just have a hole in the headliner for now.

Ok, glad that is what you're talking about. Now, that is the microphone cover. Since it's not there, check for the factory microphone that was part of the factory bluetooth kit. If you do not see a microphone in there then you most likely didn't have the factory bluetooth installed. Usually, it's snapped into the back of the mic cover, but since you don't have one you will want to investigate in the hole for a mic or wiring. Another way to tell if yours was equipped with it would be to check for a button/pad of some sort that would be next to the stereo. If you have determined you do not have it you can purchase the retrofit kit and install it into your MINI. I posted the link to the kits below.
