Introduction

Greetings! I just purchased a 2011 6sp with 35000 miles on the clock. Technically, I'm not exactly a noobie, since 30 years ago I owned a 1961 Austin 7 with the 850cc engine.

I must say, 50 years of engineering have yielded some impressive improvements.

Standard new-guy question: What should I keep my eye on? I plan on keeping this car as long as I can.

Welcome on board and congrats on your purchase! Show it to us when you can. A lot of good info here regarding mods in case you are thinking of doing any. Check out some of the garages and you may get some ideas. Safe driving and Happy Modding!

Welcome to MINI Cooper Forums! Congratulations on the purchase. Post some pictures of your MINI and your old Mini! Assuming your '11 is a MINI Cooper S?

No, it's a base Cooper with a sunroof. Chili red with a black roof and black bonnet and boot stripes. Tre fun to drive, tight as a drum.

Great! So you wont have to deal with the N18 HPFP issues and the carbon cleaning (albeit less an issue with the N18's than the N14's). Just be sure to keep up on the routine maintenance and don't neglect the cooling system as that often gets looked over. It's good to do oil changes every 5k miles and always keep an eye on the oil level as it's not uncommon, for higher mileage MINI's, to consume oil as they get older. Most importantly, be sure to enjoy and if you ever need anything just let me know. :)
