Mini Cooper S Works

Hi,

I am thinking about buying a 2003 Mini Cooper S JCW but when I spoke to my Insurance company the car is listed as a standard Mini Cooper S. I would have to declare all the mods that take place during the works upgrade meaning they won't insure me but when I phoned them originally without the reg number the insurance was only £40 more than I am paying just now.

Has anyone else had this problem or is the car i was going to buy dodgy as it's not listed as a JCW on the V5?

Thanks in advance.

Gareth

RE: Mini Cooper S Works

I just put the insurance on my new 2009 JCW and the form only listed cooper hatchback, cooper-S hatchback, clubman, clubman-s and the convertable. Then what you had extra on it such as alarm, air bags, side air bags, anti lock brakes etc. They never asked about horsepower or anything else. I asked my agent and was told that if any tragedy happened to my car they would have to replace it because the VIN number gives them exactly what options are on the car. Ronnie
