Default A MINI hello!

My wife and I just picked up our first MINI yesterday and we're stoked to be part of the MINI family! We grabbed a 2007 Mini Cooper S for $3500 on Craigslist. It has 172k on it, but the last owner had the engine and trans replaced at 122k, giving us a awesome running and looking Cooper with 50k on the engine and trans.

I have loved MINI's since they broke out in the early 2000's when I was working valet nights in Chicago. Lot's of guys pushed and shoved to get the BMW's, Mercedes and Martins; I always jumped in the MINI's. They were a blast to whip around the parking garage.

Looking forward to getting input from you guys and tinkering with the new car!

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on the purchase. With the new engine, have you done a carbon clean up yet? At about 100k or sooner you'll want to replace the timing chain/tensioner to help prevent you from hearing the "death rattle." If you have any questions or ever need anything please be sure to let me know.

May want to look into the Carbon cleaning if it hasn't been done since. I gave a link above with info on it to check out.

When you press the sunroof button do you hear any of the mechanisms working or is it silent and you hear nothing?

Previous owner said it was a "bad wire" or something and that she was quoted $250 to have it fixed so she had the wire disconnected.
