New To the Forum...Looking for advice!

Hey all, I am a brand new member to these forums and am eagerly looking to become a Mini Cooper owner. I had a few questions and figured why not reach out to some MC Veterans, hope you can help!

I am looking to buy a pre-owned Mini Cooper and one thing I heard through the grape vines is to not even consider buying a '06 or earlier. Something about their transmissions and other parts that had a number of issues that for some reason has been resolved in the '07 and later models. Is there any merit to these claims?

The reason I ask is because the area that I live and would be buying, there is an abundance of '05 and '06 models in my price range but if these claims are true, I'd rather be patient and wait for a later model to become available. I'd hate to buy a car I have been interested in for years to only have my interest killed from a bad experience.

Any advice regarding which models I should feel secure with would be greatly appreciated, I look forward to any responses!

can really say anything about 06 or older based on personal experience. i own a 2007 and have loved every minute of it. I have taken the mini on several trips between 800 and 1800 miles. very comfortable and great gas mileage. From reading I would avoid a "S" model due to the supercharger failures. The base model is plenty quick enough on acceleration.
