New member doing research on minis
Hello everyone: I'm new here and I would like to buy a mini convertible. I love the looks but I find that there seems to be some trouble with the transmissions. What's ths scoop? I'm 58, long since past my hot rodder stage. I'm looking for something fun with EXCELLENT gas mileage. My first Granddaughter will turn 16 in about 3 years and may end up driving this also. Any recommendations?

What years are you looking at Manual or Auto's ???

Answer
I'm looking for any year, prefer a manual transmission. Also, was the chrono guage package available in all years? Is it available on the new models? Thanks

The early autos were problematic 02/04's the manuals are fairly stout , clutch replacements are pricey from the dealer
I've not seen the chrono pack on the newer style |
Go for it Ashrat :) You and your grand daughter will have super fun with it, you wont regret it!
Welcome to the forum sir. |
Sorry I'm in the UK, by gas I assume you mean petrol/diesel.
I've got a new Mini Cooper D manual and I absolutely love it. Its brilliant on diesel, I think they do about 50 mpg. It costs me half as much as my old 1.2 clio in diesel. |
I'm a 59 year old 2010 Cooper S Convertable 6speed owner. Gotta say that I love driving this car. We are not crazy about driving it on the freeways but every other road is a blast. The convertable is a bit noisy with the top up or down on the freeway and it feels a bit small next to a semi! Love to hear the engine with the top down!! When I drive this car I feel like I'm sixteen and I sure as hell wouldn't want to turn a teenager loose with it, Ha Ha!

I've had my mini a week. It was love at first sight and then I drove it and love it even more. Fits like a glove. Never had a car this fun to drive. I highly recommend a mini. I get about 250 miles on a half tank of gas. Buy it, you won't be sorry.
