Default New owner... with heater core issue

Hi all! I just purchased a 2007 Mini Cooper S in Chilli Red for my wife a couple weeks ago and so far we are loving it. It's been raining a lot here lately in Houston, so we haven't been able to snap any pics yet.

Here's my problem... I decided to put a fresh filter and oil in it on Saturday. When I was finished, my wife wanted to run it through the car wash. While she was driving home, she noticed that the heater core (driver right side kick panel) was hot (even with the AC blasting). She doesn't know if it's always been like that, because that was the first time she drove the car in flip flops.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!
