Default noob: it is me

Hi all so I am here because we are thinking about a cooper S convertible new or used we are look at a few.

MY questions are few and any help with insight would be welcome.

bigest question is the back seat. I just sat in the back myself (5'10") with the seat up reasonably far and thought it was ok but with the seat back farther I can see where this could suck. anyone who has a mini with kids can you tell me how you like living with that?

I know I should search for this but when buying used. other then the obvious (milage, top condition ... ) any quirks on the engine transmission (manual only )
thanks in advance and now I am off to read

Looks like you did well , really don't see many with the chrono pack and the harmon Kardon
Ipod can be as simple as this:

to a more expensive :

on up to:
http://www.outmotoring.com/mini-coop...interface.html

You can see there are different levels dependant on controls and if you want steering wheel access

Thanks after two days of ownership I already know that it was a good choice. between these post I read the owners manual and whoa I see a picture of your option 1 in my book. I ran out to the car, opened the glovebox and there it was way in the back once I moved all the other stuff from the sale out of the way.

plugged in the ipod and put the HU to aux and I got sound. dug up an old belkin charger I had for my iphone ran it into the clove box for power. Although its not as simple as the plug in adaptors I use for my suburban and MR2 Spyder which directly connect to the bottom port of charging and play, it still sounds good enough to this tone deaf fellow and family

I wish the radio could control play lists with this method but that is a minimal concern. I will book mark this thread as I saw some of those options allow for such control.

Even dumber I also found the universal remote in the mirror so I could scrap my trip to sears for an extra garage door remote.

This is my first FI car and I can say that the SC is very intoxicating. Has pickup as good as my spyder but these run flat tires are not stellar in regards to grip. Do these cars even have a spare? boot has a battery I know that LOL. I like the look of the 17" but my guess is that they are not as responsive as the smaller wheels. what are folks doing here, regarding rubber sticking with the run flats or getting regular tires and a can of fix-o-flat?

thanks again for the welcome and the info on the ipod

cheers

T

Most scrap the runflats for good regular tires, I'm running Toyo Proxes
And keep a plug kit , A bottle of slime and a compressor. Also a AAA card incase I can't fix them
I run the 18's with lighter rims for better handling

that seems reasonable. I have Toyo T1R on my spyder they are nearly dead. great in rain but soft sidewalls (certainly compared to run flat LOL) If I change them up I might get summer tires and then pick up a set of wheel for winter skins. with more grip I can imagine this car would be even more fun.

what 18"s are you running. In spyder land smaller is better (regarding performance that is)

if 13" 9" wide wheels are available the a set of Hoosiers would make this car a monster on an autocross track.

I'm on 215/35/18's 18X8 wheels I prefer low sidewalls
I'm running 205/50 17's in Toyo Observe winter tires
Most S's need a minimum of 16" to clear the factory brakes
