Default New here with old 2009 base model

Hi,

Been on other car forums before but first time with the mini forums hoping to find some mechanical help here since the dealership is completely unhelpful and unwilling unless I give them all my money.

What I have is a 2009 base model. Actually my daughter's car but I have the chore of keeping it running.

Going to be changing the valve cover tomorrow because of the PCV issues but it also has started leaking in the front so by now, it's warped?

Another problem I'm seeing is smoke coming out the exhaust.

I bought a CD off Ebay that's supposed to cover all models from 2007 to 2011 I think it was but when I look at the PDFs, each section is titled with only one year at the top like how the valve cover page I need says 2008 at the top. Are 2008 & 2009 the same?

I believe it's the R56 engine?

Also the dealer told me the oil filter manifold gasket is leaking so that also getting here tomorrow with the valve cover.

I am sure you have already resolved this issue, however I will reply anyway. Yes the engines are all the same from 2007-10 for the Cooper hardtop. Your engine as I am sure you know by now is the N12 "prince" engine. Changing the valve cover with a newer revised one should resolve the PCV issue, and may resolve the smoking exhaust issue as well if your PCV system was causing excessive oil usage. Hopefully we will hear back from you, good luck!
