Hi, looking into buying my first Mini, a 2002 with 75K miles. My questions, would you recommend an extended warranty? I have been quoted $1200 for 60 month and/or 100K additional miles. I looked into the extended warranty since I am a huge Land Rover fan and Rovers are not very reliable and expensive to maintain.[/align][/align]Any thoughts on the topic or recommendations for an extended warranty company. [/align]

Update, I just purchased a 2004 Cooper S with 56K miles, what a great & fun ride.... now time to obtain an extended warranty

$1200 for 5 years/100,000 miles sounds like a deal to me. If it were a Cooper I'd say you would have to buy it but for an S, it's up to you.

For reliability, yes. The transmission in the early Coopers fails more often than not.
