Angry R52 cooper convertible shattered rear window

Hi purchased a 2005 Mini Cooper convertible just last Saturday and have gone out this morning to discover the rear windscreen shattered. I am absolutely gutted and have quickly established that I may need not just the screen replaced but the whole roof.
Has anyone got any advice or heard or similar cases thanks!
I can't believe I am having to join the forum under such a cloud as was loving my new car until this morning.....

Hello Sarah,

The top is part of the rear glass. It has to be replaced with a new top if OEM MINI. I have not heard of a top being offered separately. Your would have to claim it under the insurance and then work with them , but the part numbers are below. The 11 digit part number is the MINI OEM part number.

There are genuine replacement tops:

I take it your have a R52 2005 MINI Convertible ( this will work For Gen 1 : R52 2005 -2008 MINI Convertibles )

What color top did you have?

There is Black , Blue, and Green.

You will also need the fastening kit.

The tops include the integrated rear glass.

Thanks and good luck, you will either need a MINI dealership or a good body shop that deals with convertible to do it right.

Just read your sad story. What's even sadder is the way Mini Corporate (BMW) has found ways to screw the Mini owners when apparent simple replacement part work is needed. I hope you have found a resolution to your predicament.
The other concern you must have is parking the car overnight. This could happen again under similar circumstances.
