New member here considering a used Mini S. Can someone provide me with the pros and cons between ownership of a R53 v a R56. Is one engine platform better than the other from a mechanical standpoint, etc. Thank you in advance.

 

Hey badbenzz, welcome to the forum. The R53 is supercharged and the R56 is turbo. Both have pros and cons engine wise. The R56 is a newer platform so probably less problems in the future. The R53 is a little older. Performance parts are a little harder to get. I personally own a R53 which is by far the most fun car I've ever owned. Good luck choosing.
