supercharger pulley (15%, 17%)

wut is the difference between the alta 15% and 17% supercharger pulley?

bad venge 03-18-2009 05:47 PM

It's the % the supercharger is OVERDRIVEN ... The JCW uses a 14.6% pulley ...
IMO I run the 15% as thats closest to "factory" specs and shouldn't adversesely affect the car ... The higher % pulleys will require additional mods ect to keep up with the overdriven pulley

Good advice. Glad I checked this thread. I was looking at the Alta Performance pulley replacement.

i run a 17% alta pulley with K&N short ram intake, 8MM Jackson Racing wires, and NGK Cool Temp Iridium plugs and i love it. if u have at least those mods i would definitely go 17% once i receive my header i just bought im going to get larger injectors and an MSD coil pack and then upgrade to the 19% alta pulley as bad venge advised me.

no clue but I got a question for u. I have a 2006 mini cooper s r53 and I ordered the 17% sc alta pulley but don't know what pulley puller I need? anybody know?

teamslam1 02-07-2015 11:23 PM

Hey Joshua. I run a Alta 17% SC pulley but no lightened crank pulley. I do run an aftermarket cold air intake, colder plugs and an Alta exhaust. The shop I go to are Mini and Bimmer specialists. They said I didn't have to run a lightened crank pulley so I didn't.

Alta sells a pulley puller as well
